I write music for theatre and radio, and I also teach music and lyrics at <a title=\"Book Music And Lyrics\" href=\"http:\/\/bookmusicandlyrics.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BML<\/a>\u00a0in London. I&#8217;m a member of <a title=\"Mercury Musical Developments\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mercurymusicals.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mercury Musical Developments<\/a>, and I run\u00a0<a title=\"Upbeat Choir\" href=\"http:\/\/www.upbeatchoir.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Upbeat Choir <\/a>in Harpenden. My awards include the Vivian Ellis Prize for Best Musical 1990, and the Stiles and Drewe Best Song Award 2011. I was shortlisted for a 2011 British Composer Award in the Making Music category, and <em>Cycle Song<\/em>, a community opera written with Barnsley poet Ian McMillan, won a\u00a0<a title=\"RPS Awards\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rpsmusicawards.com\/home\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Royal Philharmonic Society Award<\/a>\u00a0in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>I write songs for BBC Radio, including\u00a0<em>Alexei Sayle&#8217;s Sandwich Bar, Paul Sinha&#8217;s Ultimate Pub Quiz, Mother Courage and Her Children <\/em>and\u00a0<em>The Now Show.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I was the Musical Director of <em>Memphis the Musical<\/em> at the Shaftesbury Theatre.
